Serving the Lincoln Community

We have been an active part of the Lincoln community since 2007, providing reliable eye care from a trustworthy source. We want to help our patients look, see, and feel their best in all aspects, so we have partnered with various programs to ensure all patients have access to eye care.

Clinic With a Heart is a free health care clinic in Lincoln that helps individuals that are uninsured or underinsured. Signature Eye Care has partnered with CWAH to offer comprehensive eye care services through the clinic.

The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your child’s first eye exam around 6 months of age. The InfantSEE program offers no-cost health and vision screenings for infants 6 to 12 months of age to ensure children are getting the care they need.

Signature Eye Care recognizes the importance of good vision to a child’s learning. That’s why we are a proud participating provider for the See to Learn program. The program allows parents to source free health and vision screenings for their 3-year-old child to detect any early signs of vision problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance & Financials

We accept both vision insurance with VSP and EyeMed and a wide range of
medical insurance (like Blue Cross, UnitedHealthcare, and Medicare). Please
visit our [Insurance Page / link to page] for a full list, or call us to verify your
specific plan.

Vision insurance covers routine wellness exams, prescription updates, and
discounts on glasses or contacts. Medical insurance is used if you have an eye
health issue (like dry eye, allergies, pink eye, cataracts, or glaucoma) or a pre-
existing medical condition like diabetes. We balance and bill both to maximize
your benefits!

Absolutely! We welcome self-pay patients. A standard routine eye exam starts
at $184 if paid the same day of service. We also offer flexible payment
options like [CareCredit / Sunbtit / HSA / FSA cards].

Preparing for the Appointment

Please bring your current insurance card(s), a valid ID, your current
eyeglasses, and the boxes or packaging of your current contact lenses (if
applicable). It is also helpful to bring a list of any daily medications you take.

Dilation is typically performed if you have diabetes, are 60 years of age or
older, are very nearsighted, or have symptoms like the sudden onset of floaters or flashes in vision. Dilation allows our doctor to thoroughly check the health of
your retina. While it does make you sensitive to light and blurs your close-up
vision for 2 to 4 hours, most patients are still able to drive safely afterward.
However, if you are nervous or have never been dilated before, we recommend
bringing a driver.

If you do not fill your paperwork out online, please arrive 10-15 minutes
before your appointment to fill out paperwork. Otherwise, please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment to get checked in.

You can expect to be in our office for about 45 to 60 minutes. This includes
your pre-testing, the comprehensive doctor's exam, and any time you might want to spend picking out frames in our optical boutique.

Services & Special Accommodations

Yes, we love seeing families! We recommend children have their first
comprehensive eye exam around Age 3 to ensure their visual tracking and
development are on track for school. We also participate in InfantSEE which is a
free screening for 6-12 months of age.

A contact lens evaluation requires separate, specialized measurements of your
cornea and a follow-up assessment to ensure the health of your eye. Because of
this extra time and testing, there is a separate contact lens exam fee in addition to the standard eye exam fee.

Yes. If you experience sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a flood of new
floaters, an eye injury, or a severe red/painful eye, please call our office
immediately. We reserve emergency slots in our daily schedule. (If it is after
hours, please head to the nearest urgent care or emergency room).

We recommend an eye exam every year to ensure the health of your eyes
along with the best possible visual performance.
